Flora's Soul
Flora's Soul is the most recent collection by the artist Gabriel Sánchez Viveros. It consists of stamps and paint made with natural pigment extracted from the flower of the Majagua tree and created on handmade papers.
This body of work is a consequence of his previous collection in which he focused on the origin of things, ideas, life and the conscience of the human being. On this occasion, the artist reflects on the moment in which men started to be aware of their environment, nature and their emotions.
The flowers used from the majagua tree symbolically represent union and lasting love, it is a tree that gives yellow flowers that change to orange or red in the afternoon and that when they fall they turn burgundy; it is a flower that represents the cycles of life. Gabriel Sánchez Viveros extracts its pigment to capture human silhouettes, portraits and organic forms; but above all, it’s important for him to capture the ethereal, the finite soul of nature.
